Coral Sea Kayaking is owned and operated by David Tofler and Atalanta Willy. They have spent the last fourteen years involved in nature-based adventure tourism in Tropical North Queensland, Australia, Asia and Africa. Much of their experience is in wilderness environments, and includes hill trekking, whitewater rafting, mountain biking and sea kayaking.
They have a wealth of knowledge regarding the beautiful and sensitive local ecology and care strongly about the environment. They strive to offer ecologically sound trips into areas of great natural beauty.
In early '99 they joined the first Sea Kayaking Instructors assessment course held in Queensland and are now recognised Instructors by the ACF (Australian Canoe Federation). They take pride in offering sea kayaking trips that are not only a wonderful and adventurous way to spend a holiday but, also bring a greater understanding and awareness of the beauty and wonder of nature and an appreciation of the stunning scenery and oceans of the world.
Dunk Island Day Trip
We leave South Mission Beach and paddle across to Dunk Island, this is an easy paddle and no experience is necessary. We meet at the Shelter Shed near the swings on South Mission beachfront at 8.20am or you can be collected from Bingil Bay at 7.50am, North Mission at 8.00am and Wongaling at 8.10am. If you are being picked up you will need to bring along some dry clothing to change into at the end of the trip for the journey home. Other than that just bring along whatever you might take for a day on the beach, dry bags for cameras etc are provided.
Stopping at a near by island for a midmorning snack before exploring the shallow waters of beautiful Dunk Island. Lunch will be a selection of delicious salads, cold cuts and tropical fruit.
After lunch we have time to relax on the beach or try snorkelling to get a closer look at the coral and tropical fish of the fringing reef. Then we can return to our kayaks for the afternoon paddle to further explore the nearby islands before we head back to the mainland.
